Erasmus+ grant

What is an Erasmus+ grant?

The Erasmus programme is an EU scholarship programme for EU students within all academic fields who wish to carry out parts of their education at another European institution of higher education or carry out an internship in another EU/EEA country.

The scholarship is of minimum the same amount as what you would have been able to receive through the AAU Internationalisation Pool had you not been affiliated with a Erasmus programme.

You can apply for an Erasmus+ grant:

  • If you are going to study abroad or do an traineeship in one of the countries participating in the Erasmus+ programme (not Denmark, Greenland or the Faroe Islands).

  • For study stays: It takes place with one of the partner universities with whom Aalborg University has signed an Erasmus+ exchange agreement.

You apply for the Erasmus+ grant as a contribution to your expenses during your stay abroad.

It is possible to go abroad with the Erasmus+ programme several times and to apply for a grant for every stay. You may be granted for maximum 12 month during your Bachelor's degree and for maximum 12 months during your Master's degree.

Please note that you cannot be granted from both the Erasmus+ programme and the AAU Internationalisation pool.

When you apply for an Erasmus+ study place with one of our many Erasmus+ partner universites or you register for an internship in International Office's online system you automatically apply for a grant, provided that you apply before the deadline.

For traineeships/internships: Most likely you will not know where you will be going by the deadline for the grant application, however you should not worry about that, because as soon as you know and upload documentation, we will place your application in the right pool: Erasmus+ (stays inside Europe) or the Internationalisation pool (stays outside Europe).

You should apply even though you have no documentation to present. It can be uploaded later in the process. Please upload the required documentation as soon as possible and NO LATER than 1 June for the autumn semester and 1 December for the spring semester.
